Season Recap: 2015-16

Goodbye 2015-16 Panthers season. It was an incredible one. From setting franchise records in Wins (47); Points (103) and Winning Streak (12) it was a great year. Say the Islanders played a perfect series and eliminated us from the playoffs. This was my favorite year as a Panther fan. From the 7-1 blowout win against Philly on October 10th to the 12 game winning streak to the Game 6 Double Overtime heartbreaker overtime loss in Round 1 of the 2016 Stanley Cup Playoffs I had fun. We struggled against the Weatern Confrence even though we beat powerhouses like Chicago and St Louis we struggled against Pacific division teams. We saw great stuff from our players like Smith, Barkov and Trocheck’s breakout years to Jagr at 44 years old who led the team in points and even though I’m a little harsh on them the goaltending was good. We went from a Wild Card contender last year to a Division winner this year. We saw Dale Tallon’s plan breakout, Gerard Gallant’s awesome coaching ability and commitment from owners like Mr. Viola and Mr. Cifu to keep the team in Florida. It was just an incredible year. However we also have to look at the negatives. Our special teams didn’t improve. Some players who signed big contracts (Bolland) only played 25 games, did awful and didn’t play after the 12 game winning streak started. But I just want to thank the Florida Panthers organization for an incredible year. I’m excited for next season. The Islanders series deserved a game 7 though. The referees were aganist is like always. I am not going to predict next year in fear of a jinx but I think it will be a good one. It’s going to be tough to get used to being without hockey for a while but The Puck Under the Sun is committed to bringing out at least one article a week on Panthers stuff. We automatically will anyway because of The Panther Prowler. Farewell fans but make sure to check in weekly on The Puck Under the Sun.

  1. Looking forward to the off season stories. What current FL Panthers players do you expect not to be Panthers next season?

    1. Probably Hudler, Purcell, Howden and some more young guys. We will get rid of the to bring up great minor league players like Crouse, Hawyrulk and Hunt.
