Picking Individual Goal Songs Part 1

An idea floating around is the idea for each player to pick their own individual goal song. This article is just all fun and jokes and it’s not meant to be taken seriously, but here are the goal songs I’d pick for each player.

Jonathan Huberdeau

Song: Scooby Doo Theme Song (Larry Marks)

Reasoning: Steve Goldstein’s classic goal call “Huby-Dooby-Doo” and it’s a pretty catchy song. Also will ring some nostalgia with the older fans and delight the young ones.

Would the Player Go For It: I don’t think so

Aleksander Barkov

Song: Don’t Stop Me Now (Queen)

Barkov was a hard one to figure out because he can be a hard guy to read. Despite his love for Kygo, Kygo’s songs are not goal songs. They aren’t hype enough. I went with Don’t Stop Me Now because Freddie Mercury’s lyrics seem not to apply to Barkov and I think it would be pretty funny for his goal song to be the opposite of his personality.

Will the Player Go For It: No

Evengii Dadonov

The Soviet National Anthem

Self-Explanatory

Will the Player Go For It?: No

Brett Connolly

Trophies (Drake)

Connolly is a Drake fan. Connolly’s championship pedigree from his time in Washington earns him this song, and it should be a great motivator to his teammates. I also think it fits his personality.

Will he go for it?: Yes

Mike Hoffman

Mr. Brightside (The Killers)

I don’t know why, but this just seems like a Mike Hoffman bop. Like something that would suit him.

Would he go for it?: No Idea

Frank Vatrano

Futsal Shuffle (Lil Uzi Vert)

Frank Vatrano likes his rap and I can honestly see the man as a huge fan of Lil Uzi Vert.

Would he go for it?: 50/50

Aleksi Saarela

The Final Countdown (Europe)

Saarela’s tenure in Charlotte (AHL) saw him pick his own goal song, which was The Final Countdown. This stems back from his junior team in Finland.

Would he go for it?: Without a doubt

Erik Haula

Hollaback Girl (Gwen Stefani)

Fresh from my mom’s workout playlist, Haula likes songs that have his name in it and this is pretty pumped up. To be fair, I hate it.

Would he go for it?: I hope not

Noel Acciari

Out of Our Heads (Dropkick Murphys)

The old Panther goal song (man I miss it). A nod to his New England heritage and Boston days, Dropkick Murphys are a perfect hit for Noel. I went with Out of Our Heads out of nostalgia for me.

Would he go for it?: 60%
