The Florida Panthers played a great game. However they lost in a shootout. Why? Andrei Vasilevsky. The Lightning’s Russian goalie played unbelievable making 42 saves on 43 shots. On the Panthers goaltending end of things. The Panthers goaltending was fine but Roberto Luongo only lasted 32:21 when he was forced to leave the game with a lower body injury. George Richards said that a source close to the team said the 39 year old goalie was fine but would be calling up third string goalie Michael Hutchinson who made 44 saves in a 3-2 overtime loss for Springfield against Wilkes-Barre-Scranton. Another injury for the Cats was 4th line center Derek Mackenzie who left the game after only 2:43 of ice time with an injury. The Panthers dominated the first and were very aggressive. However the five forward powerplay failed miserably as the Lightning scored a shorthanded goal. Mike Hoffman hit the post twice. This game should’ve been a dub but my dad said “Man we just have the worst luck”. Vasilevsky played phenomenal, Lu got hurt and Hoffman hit the post twice and we choked on some opportunities. I gotta agree with him. Also Jacob MacDonald, scored his first career goal in his first career game for the Panthers. It was dissapointing to see the Panthers coaching staff give the game’s only goal scorer 10:28 of ice time but it is his first career game. Vasilevsky shut the door against Barkov in the shootout and Reimer couldn’t stop Stamkos and Kucherov. Good game and we got a point. Reset and prepare for Thursday when we host Columbus.
