Top 12 Free Agents Part 2

Let’s resume. Part 1 is right here.

8. David Perron

Pos: Winger
Age: 30
Current Team: Vegas
2017-18 Stats: 70 GP, 16-50-66

Despite a late season slump, Perron is still a valuable asset. Perron put up a career high 66 points last year with the Vegas Golden Knights. The 30 year old consistently puts up 40 points. With the cap rising, Perron is going to get a big contract.

I see Perron signing a 3 year $13 Million deal ($4.33M AAV) with the Calgary Flames. Perron can help add depth scoring to the Flames who struggled in that regard last year.

7. Joe Thornton

Pos: Forward
Age: 38
Current Team: San Jose
2017-18 Stats: 47 GP, 13-23-36

Jumbo Joe is a free agent again. Despite battling injuries, Thornton had a solid season last year with 36 points in 47 games.

Thornton will stay with the San Jose Sharks but it’s hard to pinpoint his salary. Will he take a pay cut to help his team go after free agents? The Sharks have a lot of cap space so a 2 year $10M deal won’t be surprising ($5M AAV).

6. James Neal

Pos: Forward
Age: 30
Current Team: Vegas
2017-18 Stats: 71 GP, 25-19-44

Neal had a solid season with the Golden Knights as he helped them go to the Cup Finals including an All Star Game Appearance (Marchessault and Karlsson were snubbed).

I think Neal resigns with Vegas for 2 years at $10M ($5M AAV)

5. Ilya Kovalchuk

Pos: Forward
Age: 35
Current Team: SKA St Petersburg (KHL)
2017-18 Stats: 53 GP, 31-32-63

Kovalchuk is back.

2 years $6M AAV with Los Angeles
