Some surprising news came out of the Panthers a couple of hours before puck drop. Injured forward Evengii Dadonov was returning to the lineup. Two weeks early. However Dadonov wasn’t put on the top line. Rather, Nick Bjugstad was kept with Huberdeau and Barkov. While the second line of McGinn (in for Denis Malgin who was injured during the game)-Trocheck-Dadonov was okay, Nick Bjugstad stole the spotlight. Bjugstad passed his goals/points mark from his dismal 2016-17 campaign in 23 less games. He scored a beauty of a goal on a breakaway. This posts an interesting dilema. Huberdeau and Barkov are phenomenal with both Bjugstad and Dadonov. Who should they go with?
MATHESON GIVETH, MATHESON TAKETH
Michael Matheson made an impact in both games. After scoring the overtime winner Monday night in Detroit, Matheson slipped during overtime leading to a Patrick Kane/Artemi Anisimov rush which resulted in Kane finishing the game. However, Aaron Ekblad should have finished that shot.
