Well tonight was clearly not the Panthers best game. Anyway, instead of dreading on this loss, I will take a trip around the league and my opinions on some of the issues facing it. Tonight’s issue is the Olympics.
I am not a fan of the Olympics. While I do understand that the players do like to play in this tournament, I am against it for several reasons. They include the lengthy break, injury risk and how I’m just not into them
One, as a fan of NHL Hockey, the players go away for several weeks. I have always tried watching the olympics both winter and summer but I just can’t get into it. For 3 weeks, some NHL players go and represent their countries. I perfer the structure of the NHL. I think the Olympics are a complete waste of time.
Also, there is an injury risk. At the 2014 Olympics, then-Panther rookie Sasha Barkov went to go represent Finland. Barkov ended up having end of season knee surgery and gave the Panthers the 1st overall pick. A lot of NHL teams have stars that could get injured. Look at the Pittsburgh Penguins and Chicago Blackhawks. On the Penguins, Crosby, Malkin, Letang, Hornquvist and Kessel are definite Olympians for their countries. On the Blackhawks, Toews, Hossa, Kane, Panarin, Keith and Crawford are also definite Olympians. What if these teams are both in a playoff push and they lose Crosby and Kane. That’s an issue.
In Conclusion, I think that the NHL shouldn’t let their players praticipate in the olympics because of the lengthy break, a lot of fans aren’t into them and the injury risk.
