The struggling and injury riddled Florida Panthers need some help. If I were them I would look to the minors. The Springfield Thunderbirds the Panthers AHL affiliate are off to a hot start. They are 3-1-0. Here are some options I would consider:
Dryden Hunt (LW)- The Panthers need a bottom 6 Winger and for the time being Hunt could help out. He had a 2 goal and 3 point game in a 5-4 win for the T-Birds aganist the Saint Johns Icecaps a week ago. Hunt is a scorer after averaging around 2 points per game in the WHL last year, he should be called up to assist the Panthers who are just struggling to score.
Paul Thompson (C)- Thompson almost made the Cats out of preseason and was probably their best player during preseason. He has one goal so far but he could help.
Jakub Kindl (D)- Kindl was put on waivers. Over his 11 year professional career he has often swapped between the NHL and AHL. Perhaps he will do well with a second chance.
Other than that here are the top 3 prospects of the month.
1. Adam Mascherin (W)- The 2nd rounder in 2016 has been lighting it up in juniors. He has 23 points (7 G 16 A) in only 11 games.
2. Sam Montembeault (G)- He is 6-1-0 in 7 games with a .945 save percentage.
3. Henrik Borgstrom (C)- Borgstrom has 3 goals and 3 assists which is 6 points in just 6 games
