Pre-Trade Evaluation: Keith Yandle

The Florida Panthers acquired negotiating rights to Rangers Defenseman Keith Yandle in exchange for a 2016 6th round pick and a conditional 2017 4th rounder. This trade really depends on whether Yandle an upcoming UFA signs with the Cats. Yandle had 47 points and 5 goals in 82 games. He is really solid on the power play too. He can help bolster our power play. This trade is very in favor of the Panthers, even though we gave up a draft pick it’s a sixth rounder. There have been some good sixth rounders (Datsyuk and Jussi Jokinen) but I doubt it will turn into anything big for the Rangers. I think this is a huge trade. I think Yandle will pair up with Ekblad. I have a cousin who loves the Rangers and when he came down recently, when we talked hockey, he kept saying “We need to trade Keith Yandle”. I think we will sign Yandle to a long term deal. He should replace Gudbranson. He has lots of offensive power. I’m excited to see what he can do as a Panther. The evaluation of this trade depends on if Yandle signs with us so here is the grades:

If Yandle signs with us Grade: A+

If Yandle Doesn’t sign with us Grade: C+
