The Panthers have had several prospects come up and down this year. I have selected a few who I believe earned themselves a spot in 2016-17. These are only prospects who came up to the Panthers to play this year.
Mike Matheson (D)
Matheson only played 2 regular season games but he played 5 playoff games and did really well filling in for Jakub Kindl who did not have a good game 1 and was scratched. Matheson is the future Brian Campbell of the Panthers. He plays just like Campbell and I hear he is lighting it up for Team Canada at the IIHF World Championships. Matheson and Ekblad are the future #1 Pair for the Panthers.
Logan Shaw (F)
I think Shaw has earned himself a spot. He is a solid player. He just needs to get some points. He is great at causing turnovers and I thought he did well. He is an offensive player and can play with Bjugstad.
Garrett Wilson (LW)
Even though the NHL has gone to more speed and skill you still need a solid hitter. Garrett Wilson fits the role with his big physical play on the fourth line. I just think Wilson needs to develop more offensive skill but other than that he is a go.
Those are the three players I felt earned themselves a spot on the Panthers for 2016-17.
