Jagr signs 1 year deal

Number 68 on Florida is staying in Florida for at least one more year. 44 year old Jaromir Jagr is coming back to Florida for 2016-17. Jagr is a nominee for the Bill Masterson Trophy. He set many records this year including: Beating Marcell Dione and Brett Hull to rise up to 3rd all time in goals and beat Gordie Howe to become the 3rd player to get past Mr. Hockey’s 1,850 points and sits in 3rd behind Wayne Gretzky and Mark Messier. He is on the verge of beating Messier who has 1,887 points to Jagr’s 1,868. Jagr has really clicked with line mates Jonathan Huberdeau and Aleksander Barkov and played the most games in 2015-16 of the three with 79 to Huby’s 75 or 76 and Barkov’s 66. He led the team in points with 66 and scored 27 goals (2nd on the team to Aleksander Barkov) and had 39 assists (tied for second with Jonathan Huberdeau to Jussi Jokinen who held 1st). Jagr has also had a positive impact on the team with the team going 17-1-2 when he scored a goal and was the team’s player of the year. Jagr was ranked the 2nd best player on the Panthers in The Puck Under the Sun’s player grades finishing as one of the six players with an A and sat behind Barkov who had the number 1 spot. Jagr will turn 45 on February 15, 2017. He could represent the Czech Republic at the World Cup of Hockey but the Czech team is leaving the decision up to him. Jagr has 749 goals; 1,119 assists and 1,868 points in his career. Jagr unless he gets injured this season is destined to pass Messier for 2nd all time in points. In a nutshell, The Florida Panthers have signed Right Wing Jaromir Jagr to a 1 year deal. The base salary is $4 million.
