On March 29th the Panthers MVP of the month of March Vincent Trocheck fractured a bone in his foot after blocking a shot aganist Toronto. Trocheck will miss the regular season and the first few games of Round 1 of the playoffs. But since the Panthers have gone 4-0-0. The player who is stepping up the most is Aleksander Barkov. After a struggle throughout mid March the 20 year old went back to his normal self and has scored 5 goals and 2 assists in 4 games. Barkov has taken the team lead for goals with 28 and was the first player to beat Tomas Fleischmann’s 27 in 2011-12. He did that when he tied the record for fastest Panther to score from the start of the game aganist Montreal on Tuesday with his 28th 0:10 in the game. Another player is Jonathan Huberdeau. Huberdeau has 3 goals and 3 assists in 4 games. AHL call up Rocco Grimmaldi has done well. He scored 2 quick goals aganist Toronto. Little Rocco got Spacey in Space that night. Roberto Luongo has stepped up his performance as well. Luongo who celebrated his 37th birthday Monday has done well in 2 games both aganist Montreal especially on Tuesday against Montreal with 32 saves and one great one aganist Brendan Gallagher. Bjugstad has done ok in Trocheck’s absence. But when we get to the playoffs I hope these guys don’t lay back with Trocheck back.
