Brian Campbell was one of the main reasons why the Florida Panthers broke their decade long playoff drought in 2011-12. Campbell helped lead the team with 53 points becoming the Panthers all star representative and winning the Lady Byng Trophy. Campbell helped Jason Garrison score 16 goals and Garrison owes Campbell for helping him get that massive contract. Campbell also helped mentor a young Aaron Ekblad and turn him into a great player. Ekblad has struggled without Campbell’s guidance although Ekblad is now the leading scorer among defenseman. Campbell brought a great two-way presence to the team and helped solidify its defense in the early 2010s.
