Thoughts: Barkov, St Louis Game and Panthers Palooza

So my friends at Cats on the Prowl are doing this new thing where they publish their thoughts on current Panther events. I don’t have much time to write and it’s been a struggling day (Long story short I did something stupid) so I decided before I go to bed, that I would talk about Barkov, the St Louis game and Panthers Palooza.

The Florida Panthers have one man going across Alligator Alley for the All Star game this year. Center Aleksander Barkov will represent the Florida Panthers in the 2018 All Star Game. This is a well deserved honor for one of the most underrated players in the league. Tied for 2nd in the team in points, Barkov is one of the most skilled players in the NHL. Barkov will also participate in the NHL Skills Competition. It will be exciting to see Barkov, one of the NHL’s most underrated players in the All Star Game.

The Panthers offense exploded last night in a 7-4 win against the St Louis Blues. After a hot start, the Blues have been struggling. The Panthers took advantage of this. Having to face immediate adversity down 2-0, the Panthers fought back and tied it thanks to Ekblad and Barkov, the Panthers made it even. James Reimer struggled but for once he was bailed out by his offense. Radim Vrbata scored in his first game back and Jonathan Huberdeau got his sixteenth. Vincent Trocheck scored twice, including the eventual game winning goal. Trocheck with 17 goals now leads the team in that category. However this game is a little worrying. Although the team got depth production, it was still the big 3- Huberdeau, Barkov and Trocheck leading the way. We need more spread out scoring. Also Reimer’s recent struggles are very concerning.

For the third year in a row I am attending a game during Panthers Palooza. However I will be breaking my streak of attending those games but not the palooza. I will be attending Panthers Palooza this year. I cannot wait to meet up with everyone and hang out. It will be great to match twitter avis with real faces. See you all there!
