After starting veteran goalie Roberto Luongo was injured earlier this season and is still dealing with the lingering injury the Panthers resort to former Pittsburgh Penguins goalie Antti Niemi off waivers after the goalie let up 16 goals in 3 games. The Panthers needed a backup goalie to backup James Reimer  but Niemi just isn’t the right option for the Panthers. He was a backup in Pittsburgh and as you can see 16 Goals Allowed in 3 games is not the best stat line.

On the other hand Reimer hasn’t played the best either most of our most recent loses have been because Reimer gave up a clutch goal or just straight up gave up too many goals. The Goalie situation isn’t looking good for us Florida Panthers fans but there’s still always hope that Luongo comes back better from injury and has a good year and we can start winning games. We’ll just have to wait and find out.
