James Reimer on Paternity Leave; Reto Berra to backup Roberto Luongo in Vancouver and Arizona- Panthers 1B goalie James Reimer’s wife is in labor so he left the team for the next couple of games to be with his wife and newborn child. He left following a 4-3 loss in which the game ended in controversy. In overtime, Connor McDavid had a breakaway and shot the puck. Reimer caught it in his glove but his glove was in the net. After a lengthy review which killed a few minutes I could’ve spent sleeping, the intial call was upheld and there was a good goal. Reimer was red hot at the officials. The Panthers called up Goalie Reto Berra who was acquired from Colorado in the Rocco Grimaldi trade was called up to back up Luongo. Reimer is expected to miss 2 games.

Denis Malgin sent to the minors- 20 year old Center Denis Malgin has been sent down to Springfield. Malgin played 3rd line center in the absence of Bjugstad but lost the job to Michael Sgarbossa later in the year. The timing is perfect because Malgin can still develop for the remainder of the year and not skip his development stage. He had 8 points (4 goals and 4 assists) in 39 games.

Seth Griffith on Waivers- Seth Griffith is back on waivers for the third time this year. Griffith was claimed from Toronto who claimed him from Boston. Griffith only had 5 assists in 24 games this year. He got a chance to play with Jagr and Barkov but was sidelined for a week with a concussion. He lost the job to Jared McCann.

Injury Updates- The Wheel of Injuries he good and bad news. The good: Defenseman Alex Petrovic is very close to returning. The bad: Jonathan Huberdeau and Aleksander Barkov MIGHT be done for the year. Huberdeau hasn’t played a game this year. He was injured in a preseason game with Achillies Tendon surgery.
