On Tuesday, the NHL announced the rosters for the 2017 NHL All Star Game in Los Angeles. Last year, for the 2016 NHL All-Star game the Panthers sent Jaromir Jagr (Captain), as well as Aaron Ekblad and Roberto Luongo. Gerard Gallant was also the Atlantic Division head coach. This year, the Panthers aren’t going to have so many representatives as they did last year. They are only sending one representative this year. That is Center Vincent Trocheck.
Trocheck had a break out season in 2015-16. He would beat out Nick Bjugstad for 2nd line center spot and put up 25 goals (the 1st of 4 panthers to put up that many last year) and 28 assists combining for 53 points in 76 games. His 2015-16 season ended a few games short when he broke his foot blocking a shot. He played so well that NHL legend Jaromir Jagr said the Panthers had lost their best player.
This year, Trocheck has been one of the lucky top Panther forwards to escape injury. In 43 games played he has 12 goals and 13 assists for 25 points. He also slid up to top line center in the absence of Sasha Barkov. If Barkov was healthy, he would’ve made the all-star team but Trocheck is just as good.
