7 Things the Panthers need to do this offseason

It’s been an eventful offseason for the Florida Panthers. They have resigned Erik Gudbranson and Jaromir Jagr and they have realigned the front office. Here are seven things the Panthers need to do this offseason:

  1. Improve Special Teams: The obvious thing the Cats need to do this offseason is improve their horrid special teams. They have already fired PK Coach John Madden. They need to move Mike Kelly off the Power-play and find a good power-play coach. If Washington’s PP Coach is free than I recommend hiring him.
  2. Buyout Dave Bolland: Dave Bolland is making $5.5 Million a year for doing nothing. We have 3 years left on his contract. HE ONLY GOT 5 POINTS IN 25 GAMES THIS YEAR! A 5.5 Million Dollar Guy if his season is injury shortened to 25 games than he should have 20+ points. Let’s say we buy him out on June 27th. That means we will only have to pay him $1,833,333 each year until 2022-23.
  3. Sign Trocheck- The Panthers need to sign Vincent Trocheck to a long term deal worth between Bjugstad and Bolland money.
  4. If Willie Mitchell retires than hire him to be the assistant coach- If Mitchell retires we should hire him to be the assistant coach. He could help our Defense and Penalty Kill and the young guys love him.
  5. Get third line wingers- We need third line wingers. We could sign one guy and bring up a prospect to play with Nick Bjugstad. We need someone who can help Bjugstad.
  6. Get another offensive defenseman- The only goal scoring defenseman we have is Aaron Ekblad. We need someone on D who can put up 15+ goals each season. Ekblad is onlty one man. Apparently Matheson is an offensive defenseman.
  7. Resign Montoya or get a younger backup- Montoya had a stellar year. They need to resign him or get a good backup.
