Accountability doesn’t exist in the Panthers Organization

Note: I withheld this for a while but I decided to publish it anyway

As I’m writing this, the Panthers trail the Detroit Red Wings 3-0 after one period of play on New Years Eve. The Panthers have been horribly inconsistent all year. What does management do? Rather than call out people and try to make changes to improve, management figures like Doug Cifu and Matt Caldwell turn a blind eye and offer free seats to those who also don’t call out the team. Yes I got free seats. However this is not the way to go. The Panthers spokespeople will go on saying everything is fine. The Panthers have to do something. It is understandable why the Panthers are hesitant to fire Bob Boughner after the Gallant debacle but something has to  be done. Boughner refuses to acknowledge awful efforts from his team and management continues to ignore. Calling out works. After Detroit lost Saturday night, Jeff Blashill called out his team and the Red Wings scored 3 goals in the 1st period. When Boughner calls out his players, they respond. There is tons of evidence of this. The big thing is goaltending. Panthers management refuses to address goaltending. Roberto Luongo is too old. James Reimer is too inconsistent. Sam Montembeault I don’t know. Honestly they have to do something. I think we should call up Montembeault. Rookie goalies like Colin Delia, Carter Hart and Mackenzie Blackwood have been solid. Hell a couple years ago, some kid named Matt Murray came up in Pittsburgh, seized the starting job and won two cups. He won a cup before his first full season. I honestly have no idea what goes on behind closed doors but management has to hold people accountable out in public too. Ever since this team fired Gerard Gallant there has been no accountability. To be fair, Owner Vincent Viola held himself accountable for failing to increase the Panther fan market early on in his tenure. Viola wants a winner. However he needs to step in and start getting people to hold themselves accountable.

Bob Boughner holds the wrong people accountable. He benched Hoffman, Huberdeau and Yandle during the 3rd of the Pittsburgh game. He moved Borgstrom down to the 4th line of the Columbus game. Those guys aren’t the problem. The problems are in goaltending and in defenders like Matheson. Boughner needs to hold the right guys accountable or he is gonna run people out of town.
