The Tampa Bay Lightning are in a tight race right now for the Atlantic Division especially after last night’s 3-0 loss to the Boston Bruins. The Bolts first time getting shutout this season. This loss keeps the Bolts at 100 points on the season and moves the Bruins 2 points behind at 98 points. Lightning recalled G Louis Domingue from the Syracuse Crunch (AHL). Domingue was a huge help in the absence of Peter Budaj who was out for an extended period time with a lingering injury.
Having both Domingue and Budaj as backup Goalies should give G Andrei Vasilevski some more time off as the season is starting to take its toll on the young 1st year starter who’s performance hasn’t been the best. The Lightning need Vasilevski ready to go come playoff time and if it means taking him out now then I’m all for it. The Bolts have dropped the last 2 games a 3-0 shutout to the Bruins and a 7-4 loss to the Senators where neither one of those games have really been a good day for Vasy.
Under some pressure here from the surging Bruins the Bolts need to find a way to win some games and stay in first place of the Atlantic Division. Hopefully the success of Domingue and the help of Budaj as well game help the team in doing so.
